Removing the plastic

After a really weird winter here in Sweden with few days of really low minus degrees with thin ices as a result, which means not a lot of fishing at all.
We've finally reached what we all have been waiting for - spring.
So why the sad face I ask myself now with the winter behind my back?
Well there hasn't been a lot of fishing, but since there has been allmost no winter, spring came early this year, along with the real fishing, fly fishing!

So to start the season, me, André and our fishing pal Victor Camél took the car down to Stockholm last weekend to go to Sportfiskemässan, an event where sportfishing guys and girls can come and look at all the new products out there and perheps find some new friends, we didn't find Amy new friends, but a few new rods and such, so now the night before the Grand opening, the start of the season, we've taken of the protectiv plastic from the new rods, dusted of the waders and checked everything, we realize that we're finally there - fly season!

So tomorrow we're going to the same place as last year for our yearly debut, Strömsbruk and the lovely river Harmångersån to try and catch som sea run browns.

So to summen everything up, I would like to wish you all "skitfiske" as we say around here this season!
You may help me to find a more accurate translation for "skitfiske" but it would be something like "I hope you have a crappy fishingtrip" to not jinx it up!

                          Råvvejaure 2014

Råvvejaure, a pretty strange name to me. I don't know much about Råvvejaure at all, only two things actually. First of all, you can't walk there, it is way too far, you need air support to reach these lakes and creeks. Secound of all, Big trouts and Arctic Chars. This summer is going to be exclusive, me and Emil have been planning this trip for a couple of months now. We have been looking for waters on the map, we have been reading about hatching, we have done almost everything, and it feels like the trip is about the begin right now, but there are actually 6 months left. Here is a picture of Råvvejaure. 2014 will be the best year ever, we can't wait // ZigZag

"unbroken-grass"
Ammarnäs, what can i say, a place beyond the mountains. The thing is that when you are going to the mountains, the weather can change in a couple of minutes. We had constant rain for four days without any sunshine at all, you couldn't even see the sky. But there is something i have learned during this journey and that is you should never give up hope. We were walking a couple of miles upstream per day, just to find that dream trout, and so did we. There was rigged paths, where people walked daily but no fish in sight. Not even at the famous stretches where it's fine gravel that fish really love to sail across with their pelvic fins, I was confused.while i lay in the tent, and looked up at the ceiling, I thought "how can you find your dream fish" that's when I started to think deeper and deeper about those small details that may have been the reason why we have not seen a single fish in five days. That's when I came upon "unbroken grass" where none had gone before us. Me and Emil had a great time in the wonderful river - Vindelån

Ammarnäs day 3 - fishermen got to be stupid

Well, one thing is for sure, to be a fisherman, you've got to be a bit lost, I've come to that conclusion before but right now I'm really sure about it.
Today we've stood up to the god of weather and fished even though he wasn't with us.
What did we get? Not a damn thing or well André got one, but lets don't mention the size...
Even though the weather wasn't with us all day we got a little reward in the end, a few minutes of sunshine right before the sun set behind the mountains, I don't know if we should be the least satisfied with the fishing today, but the little sunshine we got absolutely made our day a little better, at it again tomorrow!

Ammarnäs day 2

We went to Ammarnäs, Lappland for some fishing up in the beautiful swedish mountains, after a 60 minute long walk we arrived to the lake and set camp.
The weather wasn't perfect, but we made the most of it so we rigged the rods and started swinging, André got some contact at the third cast or so, but sadly lost it, ten minutes later I hooked and landed a trout, not big, but truly beautiful.
And then the rain came, along with some heavy winds, so we spent the rest of the day in the tent, checked the weather report, which ofcourse had changed since we checked it before we decided to go up there.
So this morning we packed up our stuff and headed down to the village, talked to the locals, and now we're in the stationwagon, taking a nap and awaiting a night full of fishing in vindelån, i'll make sure you'll get an update tomorrow to see how we've been doing!
